Sutcliffe’s cozy lobbyist connections

We’ve long suspected the cozy relationship between Mayor Mark Sutcliffe and members of his campaign team who are now lobbyists.

Lobbyists are paid big money by special interests to influence government decisions.

Those special interests often hire the people who look closest to political decisions makers.

We have rules in place to ensure these activities are registered and published.

We now have evidence that former and possibly current campaign workers of Mayor Sutcliffe may not have been following those rules.

My letter to the commissioner calling for an investigation is posted here as is the disclosure package provided in response to an access to info request I filed.

We need to ensure the rules apply to everybody, even the Mayor and his friends.

On one page, Mark’s staff admits that Jennifer Stewart was talking to Mark’s director of communications about an announcement for one of her clients. Jennifer Stewart was Mark’s 2022 campaign co-chair.

Stewart’s company, Syntax Strategic represents clients on the LRT, and on the purchase of the new dump lands for $95-million.

Check out my request to the Integrity and Lobbying Commissioner for an investigation, there you’ll see what we found in the document.

Want to go through the 100 pages yourself to see what you can find? I’m sharing that too.
